Welcome! I’m glad you’re here. You can call me Wendy, which is one of many nicknames, or Wenying, which is my Chinese name.

I am a self-taught film critic and a graduate student studying media in London. I started this blog in 2019 and named it after the French mise en scene. It is a platform for me to write about movies. I love my blog!

You should know that I’m completely obsessed with movies, I can’t get enough of them. I am particularly interested in plotlines and have even tried to shoot a movie myself. I have also read many articles about film analysis. I like to explore the stories behind films and I hope that my reviews can inspire you to go into the film world. Most of all, I like to watch movies in a pleasant setting. I watch movies and talk about them, is there any greater pleasure in life?

I try to approach each movie with an open mind and would encourage you to do the same. Sometimes films are popular because they speak to the current thinking of the general population. I believe that whether it’s a comedy or a serious drama, the theme of a movie must be closely connected to society.

I’m also a big fan of romantic movies and often go to the cinema to watch them with friends. The whole point of this blog is to discuss deep and meaningful movies that touch the senses and nourish the soul.
